If you thought a school having its own choir is great, then what will you say
to a school which has its own band?
St. Andrews School band has 100 accomplished music players, who have made their
school proud by winning several inter-school band display competitions.

The pioneer band consisted of
flutes, chanters, guard drums, side drums and base drum with cymbals, bugles
and saxophones. Our band also includes flag bearers who carry their respective
House flags i.e. Emerald Gladiators, Ruby Spartans, Sapphire Knights and
Topaz Vikings. Each House has 12 flag bearers and they are selected from Class
VI. Most of these flag bearers then go on to join the band.

The band came into its own league when it gave its
very first display, smartly turned out in red and white kilts, on the Sports
day in 1992. From then on there was no turning back. The band display has
become a not-to-be-missed event on every school occasion.
Now, the St. Andrews band has become a prominent and renowned one and they are
being constantly invited to play for different government functions. St.
Andrews band has been a regular participant in the Andhra Pradesh Police
Traffic Week celebrations. They were adjudged the Best School Band in the
State. The greatest honour of course was when the St. Andrews band was invited
by the State Government to play for the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Hon'ble Dr.
C. Rangarajan on his visit to the Open Air Jail at Cherallapally in October
2000.
